i took a little peek at mocoloco and found (photo above) the new three-storey narrow version of its "Ki no Ie" pre-fab home from muji
when living in london i was in there a lot enjoying the simplicity of their brand.. well living away from 'muji cities' i have fallen out of touch of thier line.. well.. from trying my best to look through website.. anyone help me out with japanese?? i want to know so much more about their prefab line.. SO much.. but most of the info/photos/ etc is all in japanese..
still go to the site b/c when you are clicking on things that you have no idea where it is leading you.. you never know what you could come accross!!!
oh.. and if you have no idea of the muji brand.. take a quick read of the wiki note.. why not right?

jeff koons just jumped way wayy up in my book today..
our friends from Monacoeye/Arkitip tell it best.. well.. i guess they told me best on highsnobiety.. so read...
Art superstar Jeff Koons has landed another hit, and designed his first yacht. The"Guilty", owned by art collector Dakis Joannou, features an extravagant artistic take by the US artist on the exterior.
"Of course, Sarah Morris' text painting "Guilty" hangs on the wall of one bedroom - bought after the yacht was named. Owner and major art collector Dakis Joannou simply had to have it! The exterior design was created by international art star Jeff Koons, famous for his basketball in perspex case, three-storey high "Puppy" made of flowers, and the "Made in Heaven" erotic series of photographs with Italian ex-wife and porn-star-member-of-parliament La Cicciolina. Although the blown up print and poster colours will be familiar to art fans from Roy Liechtenstein's signature Ben-Day Dots style, Jeff Koons actually based this design on a WW1 camouflage pattern."
the specific camouflage they are talking about it called the dazzle camouflage created by camoufleur everette warner .. i learned some of this stuff in bermuda at the museum there.. i was facinated by the.. yup.. liechtenstein'ness of the pattern.. just amazing i think of it as pop and not to hide.. wonderful.. go read and learn a little more here.. i had this little link saved a long time ago.. fun to actually use it..
lets keep going here....
next i found my way to the some of the most amazing photography i have ever seen in my life.. and i really mean it.. andrea great uncle is/was (rip arnold) arnold newman .. just do a little search.. amazing man.. when you pass away and nytimes gives you your own page.. you have definitally deserved it.. read
the witness series from james nachtway is out of this world.. i mean this quote from him says it all...
"I have been a witness, and these pictures aremy testimony. The events I have recorded shouldnot be forgotten and must not be repeated."
please go to his site.. things like this should be seen to make you understand what is going on/has gone on in the world.. go

well i am sure at least a few of you have seen or at least heard of the beautiful losers film... if not.. please do yourself a favor at take a peek at the video below.... i have sadly not seen it yet.. i do not believe it has made its way to savannah yet but why have i not started up my mobile drive business (use the green space around the city (soooo much) and have bike to/walk to and sometimes drive-in as well maybe on top of the parking garages downtown on something.. and then connect with maybe union mission (shelter) and create a transitional/supported employment type deal... yes my friends.. therapy!! the possibilities really are fun to put into action (currently @ the hospital art group, crafters, & recipe rehab)
anyho.. wow sorry..
i want to see the movie badly and for now i will just have to live with the clips out there (i remember seeing a clip must have been about 6 months ago.. it may even be posted on here somewhere..)
ps- viemo is wonderful
ok.. so there is the clip.. and here is the blurb.. or synopsis to sound serious
BEAUTIFUL LOSERS celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.
In the early 1990's a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the "establishment" art world, this group, and the subcultures they sprang from, have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.
Starring a selection of artists who are considered leaders within this culture, Beautiful Losers focuses on the telling of personal stories. It speaks to themes of what happens when the outside becomes "in" as it explores the creative ethos connecting these artists and today's youth.

Sunday, August 3

BAGHDAD HOSPITAL: INSIDE THE RED ZONE veryvery impressive series that i just watched a little snip-it of on hbo.. yes.. cable! ha.. but anyway.. the scene completely took over my interest... very intense situation where a bombing happened and they are on their way to emergency with a mother who has just seen her son killed and everyone in the ambu. has just witnessed serious tragedy and chaos.. so scary and crazy.. they are screaming in the camera about the politicions/american troops/sadam and how they just did not understand why things like this keep happening.. just amazing
its real life.. not some bullshit 'reality' stuff.. sorry to sound like some 'tv snob'.. haha.. i just got cable
not too many photos around from the show that i could find.. if anyone has more luck please let me know
here is a little snip from the hbo site interview with...
Omer Salih Madhi: I was desperate to get the story out. I'm an emergency room doctor, and I've worked in one of Baghdad's worst hospitals since 2001, and I've experienced horrible scenes since the war started. And I always felt weak, desperate, and unable to do anything but just watch people die. So when I started to do journalism, I always thought that I should do something about the emergency room. And when I started making films, always in my mind was this idea of doing a film about the emergency room.
