tonights movie is caddyshack.. 1980.. wow. anywa.. very funny.. so much smoking and outrageous shirts! and rodney dangerfield is so crazy.

a little eariler in the envening we stopped by home depot.. that place is too big.. we first did a little plant play.. andrea for a couple of neat little ones for about $2 a peice.. why not right? we then finally got a fan (above).. it was about $50 and should cut our ac bill by about $10 a month.. why not right? we then strolled down the electrial isle and picked up the very simple ceramic single bulb fixtures ($2) and the 'converters' that you screw into the fixture and then can use it as an outlet (plug for my non-electrical rich vocab friends)... and we are going to plus these into them... $20 a piece! cb2 not a bad deal thank you.... and lets just top it all off with a $500 dollar budget that goes to us from the building owner/real estate co.. thanks! haha

also got some beautiful light bulbs .. i think they are the reveal series.. sort of a super soft purple hue.. such beautiful lighting!! and a fun globe shape!

anyway.. i am excited for it all to come together.. looks like i will spending a couple of days up on the ladder with my hands above my head.. my shoulder is already excited about it!!

ps- dangerfield is one out-of-control man!

nite
wow.. 2 nitenite posts in a row.. new trend? ha

i just got bit by the most outrageous cobrasnake

i this man going to be ok? i sure hope so

the red looks a lot like designer arne quinze's... you can find a little of her greatness way down in the depths of this site... speaking of which.. i just got this .com thing and am trying to sort things out.. anyone that knows anything that could help please please!!
ok.. where to start..
once and a while i go to the cobrasnake site to take a peek and see how the real people live.. haha.. the parties seen to get more and more outrageous.. i came across a party titled demolition man and it was a crazy mix of photos depicting an out of control party with beautiful people and millionaires basically destroying and defacing a gigantic home..
i have been to a party like that.. and all of my friends from halifax know exactly which one i mean!! ha.. such a sterotypical out-of-control adolescent event
anyway.. the cobrasnake galleries can be a lot of funss

nite

yup... mr harper had some real REAL talent! distant relative??
its sunday and we headed to the beach today... you know when you spend so much time looking for parking that you basically feel sick and just want to go home? yeah.. i felt like that...
i guess growing up we had it so lucky when i think about it.. we had a simple little cottage about 25mins outside of halifax that was (and still is!.. love you nan!) just perfect and so relaxing.. our own little beach.. not the trashy beach scene that seems to be around most of the time..
once we finally got parked (tybee island) we went to the beach and it was too windy and was sending that crazy sting sand that nails your ankles.. so andrea went for a super walk which i always enjoy... then the darkDARK clouds started coming in and we had to rush back to where we were (our stuff and friends included)... rain came just as we got into the little bar out there.. coupld beers and then home home.. i got some boiled peanuts at a stand on the side of the road.. i think i am warming up to the texture of them.. they are tastey and fill a hole well
yup.

Saturday, June 28

well i was creeping around the working class studio site today (scad) and i found the little press area.. i guess at home magazine in june 2008 (no link b/c i cannot find one!!. any help?) did a little thing a ma jig on andreas pillows.. we went to barnes and nobel yesterday and could not find the magazine... ahhh well.. i think it would be good for her to her a hold of a copy though..
lots of words from me today
haha.. site pimping

yup.. check us out! top left... andrea and i were in bermuda to meet/visit her father.. and we made it into the bermudian publication.. yeah.. we are kind of a big deal.. people know us... hahaha

andreas moms dog milo.. cute dog but a bit of a brat.. and yes.. we did get a new rug... i was unsure of it at first but now i like it

andrea has started back at school now for her open studio course.. explore explore!.. i guess that is kind of what it is all about... she has been on the woodgrain kick on and off now for about the past 5 years.. for some reason i always really like her irregular line quality that she seems to do... i really do like it.. and no.. she is not paying me to say this.. haha.. maybe she should be though?? oh.. and she has started to dabble in the online world as well.. so go to her little site.... go go go go go

sarah sze's most recent work at the Maison Hermes in tokyo.. so huge!

well.. today i was doing my regular little internet hop around when i came across a neat little feature about sarah sze on designboom
i was instantly drawn to her work.. i have no idea really what it is about this style of work that pulls me in but it does.. i collect 'things' and love to really focus in on little arrangements and when i see someone like sarah who has that beautiful eye for detail and see what someone like this can do when given a space (sometimes a HUGE space) is amazing. I would love to experience one of her environments in person.. it must be so easy to get lost in the detail.. sooo easy! or even better would be to be there for her creating the space.. must be amazing! sarah.. if you need an extra hand ever.. please contact me!! haha.. you can tell that she has really dedicated her life to her craft.. check out her site.. she has lots of wonderful photos from throughout her life that sort of lead you to where her work is now.. starting from 97'... the photos are in a sort of chronological order.. so...... enjoy and have a great day! (or night)

not a big skull guy the the line quality on this is really eye catching.. it sort of reminds me of the styling on the buses in malta which were usually done by the driver.. Rob Schwager designed this.. i guess if selling skull prints does not work out he could go to malta and paint on the buses there?? sounds wonderful to me!

darcel puts up these wonderful illustrations on his/her site... just go.. JUST GO NOW! . haha.. picture the end of harry and the hendersons towards the end when the father is yelling real mad for 'harry' the big foot to 'go back to your home'.. sorry.

what a smile!

our good friends at boingboing found a fun little series of 'tiny cars'... the series itself is not too toooo interesting (surprisingly) but this photo is grand! happy couple.. i think i would be too if i was on a little weekend road trip with that! (that = car/sleeper... not girl! haha.. dont worry andrea!.. muah!)

conn brattain and john giordani just did a sneak peek over at designsponge .. this is a little shot of their bedroom.. how personal!! sorry guys! i just love the harper prints above the bed! thats all.
actually.. that is not all.. their site .. cuckoo for coconuts (fun name) is fun... they are living in hawaii... enough said.. i hope!

thierry le goues is one amazing photographer.. period. please go to the site and check out more.. manymany photos there.. the above 2 are from the soul series..

we went for a fun little adventure today.. driving around savannah and then out into the coutry.. confed war park .. which was sort of closed but still beautiful right on the river.. we then found out way to this huge outdoor shop called bass pro shop.. it was huge and full of interesting things.. prob most to me was the flyfishing cabin.. full of rods and reels but even more fantastic was all the flies and fly tieing materials... jeff (my father in law/friend) used to flyfish a bit when i was younger and also did a flittle flytieing.. so hopefully mum can find some of the stuff in the basement and i could give the tieing a whirl again.. i think it would be fun.. maybe even andrea would like it...
above is come photoshopped fun (by Getty Images, iStockphoto) to promote the very real chanel fly rod.. funny right? its something close to $20g i think.. so sad..
found on notcot sadly after i found that tastespotting has closed down.. legal reasons?? i will truely miss that site and all of the inspiration it has given me in the kitchen up to this point...
speaking of which.. i also went to an amazing shop we have here in savannah called ______ i feel so bad for not remembering the name.. it is a great store and you get to hold and even dice a few things with the knives.. i tried out all the dream knives today.. it was amazing.. shun, wustof, henckels, global and many others... it was so fun to hammer out a little wrist flicks with these things... i really think the shun 8in classic chef is what i may go for.. and i think ideally the hollow ground (little dimples).. it is about $130.. i know that is so crazy but this is something i will have, use, and be proud of for a whole lifetime.. even if i get to use it 'professionally'.. ie my own place.. which would be wonderful! dreaming is fun.. planning is better!
above in the shun classic 8in hollow ground chefs knife.. i had this thing in my hand today for a bit and it felt just wonderful and fast... so fun! ($130 free ship.. )

goodness i love craigslist... 97 Land Rover Defender - 1 Owner - Only 48K Miles Well maintained - $4650 (Savannah)
does anyone have about $4 grand to lend moi? i think you could make money out of this vehicle.. selling something out of it (food/etc) .. tours!.. taxi.. best would be to have this as a cafe/resturant shuttle (taxi) and convert to veg oil... one day!! it really is not that expensive!! and it is in just beautiful condition!!!!! maybe tomorrow i will find a money tree?

captains looggg... haha.. i have a couple of friends staying over (chris & his lady sydney).. when we got home from a beautiful little bike ride we put on the bucket movie and let me tell you.. it was no good .. jusst my opinion but i did not enjoy it too much at all.. both good guys but just a crap film
happy friday!
oh.. i found an amazing site called la boudoir when stacy left a little note on here.. its wonderful, personal and fun.. good combo right?
pictured here is her and her soon to be husband.. wow.. congrats!

Monday, June 9

well its my birfday today.. yup.. all day. last night was great.. andrea and i were going through our regular routine.. bike ride through forsythe park.. and then loop around town and eventually end up at the kroger by the park.. its always fun. so we were going through the park and andrea started to go down one of the little sde paths.. and bingo.. a little surprise party pour moi... it was very nice and thanks to the folks who were there...
oh... and most importantly i love you andrea and thank you so so much! muah!!

even though its my birthday i still managed to spend a little time on the computer.. if you are on here and get around like i do you have prob seen these room dividers by mona hatoum .. i just love the texture! i am sure it would not feel good to fall up against this.. scary!

Saturday, June 7

gimlet! very smart logo and branding going on here.. i think there could be a great market to get into .. make beautiful mixed drinks with high quality ingredients .. bottle them up in a interesting bottle/packaging.. and there you go.. fun business..
above is a great example of this.. by Mayuko Hari

i found this perfect little photo on the pingmag site.. they were doing a feature on the street lamps of tokyo.. i remember watching astro boy when i was younger.. much younger
photo cred goes to Tim Rudder .. i checked out his site.. and then to his blog ... it really is worth the look.. just think about it.. a talented photographer living in a exciting city and taking some great photos to .. so.. thanks tim!

Jan Vormann created these amazing lego filled spaces in Bocchignano, Italy, a village close to Rome.. love the unexpected bursts of colour... his site has more photos.. go there.. NOWWW. ha

the Project G stereo from Clairtone was one of canada's finest design pieces ever to be build.. Design Exchange of Toronto has put together a book and a show for the history of Clairtone.. furniture, commercials and such.. i think it would be a great show! anyho i like the photo too!

graphic designer christoph senn created this beautiful broken mirror fabric... i like this style of line quality.. you can really see the hand in it.. funny.. he is a graphic designer.... i wonder if this is hand illustration on comp? either way.. bravo!

oh.. and i found this on mocoloco.. and i would expect that b/c i have not been on there in a few days there will be more to come.. i like the description of this house.. i think i could work for a arch/design firm and be the interviewer/1st step for a client.. why not right? im friendly!
+ The modular Énóvo House, "a sleek modular assembly that’s designed to evolve as the needs of its inhabitants change.".+
ohh (sort of like ohh = pps).. i have noticed that mocoloco finds a lot of its content from materialicious .. happy to see that site going wild.. they can find some amazing projects!
