I love the use of this negative space.. it is all made of foam and great for increasing your storage space. The little cat and bird are so great.

I love this little play on a the brass knuckles by Jonathan Sabine. I think it would be so great to have a set of these and after dropping some fool in a dark alley you could pop your cork on one of your fav cabs...

This is an amazing project which has the possibility to redefine the sailing world.. making boats faster and more efficient.. exciting! Arnold Freidling has created a hydro-foil yacht in which the hydro-foils located in the wather under the boat lift it out of the water and greatly reduce drag and friction... therefor higher boat speeds!!

Uport Umbrellas

I absolutely love the idea of a umbrella vending machine!! I feel that is would do very well in rainy parts of the world.. possibly add gloves, hand warmers and hats for the Canada edition. If you make it affordable people will buy it! Perfect for forgetful people in busy public places or that guy who is trying to keep his date warm and dry.... if anyone is interested in investing with me let me know.....

I was checking out some Chroma knives put out by the people at the Porsche Design Studio and happened to fall upon their latest endevor... the watercraft. Looks interesting but I would love to see it out in the waters.

Time to build

So we just got to savannah and finally got to take a look at the place that wea re going to be living. It is such a great feeling to finally be in a spot that you care about and want to take the time to make everything perfect. I have been taking measurements and making my designs to build my own furniture, lighting, and just about everything! I am not a fan of coffie tables so this little fitted sofa arm drink rest will be the perfect solution! The one about is from the Stockholm furniture fair which recently took place in.. yup you guessed it! Stockholm!!

I want some huge glasses!

I am relatively new to the world of glasses (about 1 year) but have really enjoyed seeing what the world has to offer with a little detail. I love my current frames but would love to find some huge old frames and put some new lenses in them.. keep your eyes peeled for me!

Adopt an Olive Tree

The idea of owning an olive tree is exciting. Olive oil is used basically everyday in the house and it would be beautiful to have it come from a tree which you own.. in Italy! The people at Nudo olive grove have really come up with a good idea here. For aprx $100 you pick a tree and they send you two little packs a year of oil and soap. You can browse the trees available and you had better hurry becuase a lot of them have already been taken up!

Night Cove

Recently our original Moonbeam alarm clock died and after many hours of trying to bring it back to its light flashing life I have given up and decided it is time to move on. The people at Zyken have created the amazingly complex Night Cove which is a system that will not only wake you up but enhance your sleep. It really is an amazing product (with a price to match!).

Such a great add from our good friends hawaiian tropic... it's funny how their oil scent is so recognizable.. love it! The mirror in front of your face trick is one that I have never tried... i just imagine you having a really brown chin..

Backsplash idea

This interesting lighting piece was created by Spencer Finch. I love his work! Sort of makes me think of dna strips. Then I pictured a similar look which you could create from backlit nagatives. Set behind glass and you have a snazzy backsplash or interest piece... creative commons on that one kids.

Street Style

I have been lucky enough to spend a good amount of time in THE city (nyc.. THE city). I love how no matter how crazy you think you are dressed there is going to be 1000 other kids way wilder than you can ever imagine. I just love how you can wear whatever you want and know that you are going to fit in just fine! Some street fashion I love...




And there are others that I am not totally feeling but I still think it takes balls to go out like this and have a great time...

Both facehunter and the sartorialist are great sources to check out. You will see the latest fashions and trends way before you see them even on the runways. Street fashion is at the forefront of the fashion world! Do not get left behind.. haha.

Yum yum

I am definitally into food. Weather I am eating it, cooking it, dreaming about it, imagining combinations... it is always on my mind. I love the Tastespotting website so much! You find such an amazing mix of foods, appliances, accessories, stories and other things on there. Even if you are not a huge food fan you will love the photos and colours! I belive that halve of the meal is presentation anyways!

I came across this beauty when checking out one of my fav internet stops.. MAKE.
I love the concept of this but feel it could be executed a little differently. Possibly make a floor model? Not sure but I think I am going to go ahead and get one started. It would be nice to have a few of these for the path leading to your home.

I basically love everything Mr. Lissoni puts out in the world. He seems to have mastered the modern modular look so perfectly! He is a real genious. I am in love with one of his 'extra wall' furnature line.

Brazilian Beauty

The clean lines of this home are so perfect! I love the crisp white with the mountains in the

background. It was created by the brazilian architect Jose Kos. What is even more amazing is that the three large openings can be covered by steel curtains which are on a roller system in the roof. Perfect Miami home for the hurricanes that torment us each year!

Discovery Channel

Well I thought that I would set the tone on here by taking a quick look at one of nature's most amazing designs... the shark. I know that we all turn towards nature for inspiration, so it's interesting to study such an amazing creation.
I hit up Discovery.com to snab a photo or 3 from the shark week unit of the website. There is so much amazing info and a pile of links there..
including shark attack files! I may throw a shark bite print together for a t tomorrow.
Anyway, there was a lot of amazing things on that site.. including a show that I did not know about which was called Future Car. There is a group of lucky kids who get the opportunity to go wild and attempt to design an automobile for 2030!! Just imagine how much fun you could have with that concept? Anyway, I watched a little video about the show and sadly the "interns" were extremely dissapointing. None of them really had capturing personalities and to be honest the car designs non-impressive. One intern claimed that he got his inspiration from the late Bob Ross. Bob Ross was entertaining but as far as leading me towards the car of the future I am not sure.. Sorry guys. Good try? Maybe that is why GM is struggling a little?

The start of something beautiful

Hello,
my name is Jonathan Harper and I am newly graduated Occupational Therapist. Now it's time for me to answer the question.. 'so why are you creating a design blog'? Well the answer is both simple and complex (if that makes sense?). I love the world of design and everything related to it, I spend quite a lot of time and effort seeking out the newest and most exciting designs, and I am soon returning to school in order to fulfill my want to have a beautiful career in the design field. Simple right? I will not get started on my exact goals for breaking into the world of design, but I am sure it will all come out at some point here soon.
